尹President arrives in London… Condolences for the British Queen’s funeral tomorrow

On the followingnoon of the 18th (local time), President Yoon Seok-yeol arrived in London, England, his first stop, and started the tour for 5 nights and 7 days.

President Yoon, who had originally planned to tour two countries, the United States and Canada, added a visit to London to attend the coat of arms of Queen Elizabeth II of England.

The decision came following the leaders of the world’s major countries were expected to gather at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York, USA.

Through this ‘condolence diplomacy’, President Yoon is expected to represent the Korean government and people in commemoration of the deceased, while at the same time meeting the key leaders of liberal democracies such as the United States and Japan.

First of all, President Yoon will attend a reception hosted by King Charles III this evening with his wife, Kun-hee Kim, to deliver condolences.

Then, on the morning of the 19th, he will attend a funeral held at Westminster Abbey in central London.

About 2,000 people attended the funeral, and it is said that regarding 500 of them were heads of state and royalty.

On the followingnoon of the same day, President Yoon will travel to New York, USA to attend the UN General Assembly following finishing his two days and one night in London.

On the 9th, President Yoon said, “It was an honor to share my contemporaries with the Queen,” and “I express my deepest condolences.”

He also paid condolences by visiting a temporary incense burner at the residence of the British Embassy in Seoul, Jung-gu.
