After the keynote speech at the 77th UN General Assembly on the 20th (local time), President Yun Seok-yeol met with former World Bank President Yong Kim and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and then attended a dinner for overseas Koreans living in New York.

After the keynote speech at the UN General Assembly on that day, President Yoon had a luncheon with former President Kim and discussed various pending issues.

In his keynote speech, President Yoon ordered active support for countries suffering from difficulties in the international community, and suggested a plan to establish a financial intermediary fund through the World Bank.



I also met Guterres, secretary-general, following regarding a month. The two met in August at the President’s Office in Yongsan, Seoul, and discussed various issues. It is known that he expressed his sympathy with President Yoon, who attended the 77th UN General Assembly for the first time, and gave a keynote speech in front of the heads of the United Nations for the first time, and talked regarding it.



After that, President Yoon had a dinner with officials of the Korean Association of New York, representing 440,000 Koreans living in New York. He was accompanied by Kim Kun-hee, and almost all of the presidential staff who accompanied him on this tour, as well as the couple of the Japanese ambassador to the United Nations, were also present.



An official from the presidential office said, “I asked Koreans living in New York to meet and encourage Koreans living in the United States, and to show their unchanging appearance for the development of Korea-US relations and the Republic of Korea.”



Meanwhile, with the participation of the UN General Assembly as an opportunity, the bilateral talks are also in the final coordination stage. The biggest interest is the South Korea-US-Korea-Japan summit on the 21st.

According to the presidential office, President Yoon met with US President Joe Biden at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and promised to meet once more at the United Nations, so it is highly likely that the Korea-US summit will be held. A meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is also likely to be held. However, a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has yet to be confirmed.
