President Yun Seok-yeol (left) and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanage held a summit in Madrid, Spain on the 28th (local time) and reached a consensus on cooperation in the energy industry and denuclearization of North Korea. It is the first official event of President Yun, who visited Spain to attend the NATO summit.

The two leaders, who met at a hotel in Madrid, agreed on solidarity with values, the presidential office said. In addition, they discussed ways to cooperate with carbon-neutral green technology in response to energy and climate change, and cooperation in the supply chain for advanced industrial materials and rare minerals.

President Yoon expressed his hope for Korean companies to participate in the green hydrogen sector, where Australia has a strong point. Regarding cooperation with North Korea, Prime Minister Al Albanage said, “We will continue to strictly and strongly implement the economic sanctions imposed on North Korea.”

The issue of hosting the 2030 Busan Expo was also discussed. President Yoon asked to exert a positive influence on the 11 Pacific Island States Forum (PIF) countries that have the right to vote to host the Busan Expo, and the Prime Minister of Albanage responded, “We will consider it appropriately.”

The two leaders agreed to achieve many things through mutual visits and frequent meetings.
