【Exclusive interview with Dongzhi】From the “sports class” all the way to the medical department of National Taiwan University! He proves that sports and reading are by no means parallel lines – 动物

Although it is already 2023, Taiwanese society generally still has a stereotype of athletes with “simple minds and well-developed limbs”. But in recent years, there have actually been many “both civil and military” athletes, whether it is the story of Liu Renhao, the most representative medical department of National Taiwan University, who scored in the SBL; Lan Yicheng, the first National Taiwan University student, has proved that “reading” and “sports” can coexist at the same time. And the protagonist of today’s story will continue to subvert your past stereotypes. He is Pan Youting, who has a lot of sports experience, from the physical education class all the way to the Department of Medicine of National Taiwan University.

Pan Youting, born in 1998, first came into contact with sports in the middle class of kindergarten. One day following school, he saw someone skating inline skating, so he became interested in this sport, so he told his mother that he wanted to learn. After a period of training , During the senior class, he participated in the small competitions held by the team and achieved good results, and the sense of accomplishment of winning the award also became Pan Youting’s motivation to continue training.

Because his coach was also instructing skating, Pan Youtingguo performed “rollers and skating” at the same time when he was young. However, since the only qualified skating rink in Taiwan is the Taipei Arena, he lived in Taichung at the time and mostly used the time around 10 o’clock on Friday evenings to drive northward with the coach to practice in the early hours of the morning. There is a problem of crowding people.

When he was in elementary school, Pan Youting not only learned roller skating and skating, but also because his father had always played billiards, he also took billiards lessons. After entering junior high school, he entered the school where his father taught. Although his father was a mathematics teacher, he also supported his son to exercise more. He believed that if he entered the physical education class, he would have more opportunities to get in touch with sports in addition to general subjects. Shang Pan Youting also wanted to continue practicing, so he finally entered the physical education class, but he had to take care of both sports and schoolwork, so he chose billiards, which is a more convenient venue, as a special event.

When playing billiards in junior high school, most of Pan Youting’s most memorable matches were related to team competitions, because at that time he always served as the fifth point, either becoming a “hero” or a “bear”. In the second year of junior high school, he and his teammates competed for the top 3 of the China National Games, and fought for the tickets to advance to the National Games. In the key battle, it was Pan Youting’s turn at the 5th point, and the opponent was a “good chipper”. After this style of play, although he can’t hit back any good shots, Youting Pan will try his best not to lose. In that game, he fought once morest Deuce in five rounds. In the end, he won the game and became the leader of the team. A key figure in the National Games.

Pan Youting, who has been exposed to various sports since he was a child, actually still had a dream of becoming a sports player before Guoyi, whether it was skating or billiards, but due to practical considerations, including time cooperation and strength gap, he knew Said that he may not be able to become a professional player, but this did not dispel his love for these sports. On the contrary, because he knew that his skills were not as good as others, he would want to train harder and perform well in the competition.

After entering high school, Pan Youting entered Taichung No. 1 Middle School. Even though the high school work was more arduous, Pan Youting still joined the school team and continued to play billiards, and practiced all the way to the third year of high school. In terms of academics, Pan Youting has been able to maintain his grades in the top 5 in his class since he was a child. Before entering high school, he was worried that it might be because the school he went to in the past was not in the city center, so his grades were more outstanding. In addition, At that time, I heard that many students had already finished the course content ahead of time, which made him very nervous at first, but maybe it was because of his personality. Whether it was sports or academics, he would try to catch up with others even if there was a gap. On the contrary, it can become the driving force for his progress, and this also made him finally join the Department of Medicine of National Taiwan University, which is the first choice in Taiwan.

After college, in addition to participating in the billiard team of the medical department, Pan Youting also joined the National Taiwan University track and field team to specialize in middle and long distance events. Because he practiced skating and roller skating since he was a child, he has laid a good physical foundation, and in fact, no matter what kind of sport, physical fitness is a very important part, so when he used to practice billiards, he would go to the playground to run 3000 kilometers following playing. Ruler, there is an obsession that makes him want to improve his physical fitness every day. When he was in high school, he would also participate in the school’s large and small track and field competitions. Pan Youting said that he enjoyed the “dying feeling” of panting and sore muscles following running.

From pulleys, billiards, to track and field, Pan Youting focused more on running in college. In addition to his love of track and field, this sport is also a more convenient sport than billiards training and time. Although there are endless books in the medical department, Pan Youting will definitely set aside time for exercise, because for him, exercise and schoolwork are equally important. Running has become his daily routine, and he does not need to deliberately plan, so he will reduce it. For my other social activities, this balance has been maintained until my senior year.

Fortunately, during this period, he still maintained training. Although he was still affected, he won the best fourth place following college in the 3,000-meter obstacle course of the general group of the Universiade. Name achievement.

After starting an internship in the hospital, Pan Youting has very little time for exercise. If he becomes a doctor in the future, let alone he will definitely be busier and busier, but he certainly hopes that he can continue to maintain his strength in exercise. Hobby. And Pan Youting believes that his advantage is the physical fitness he has cultivated since he was a child, so in the future when he chooses a department in the hospital, he may choose surgery that requires long standing for surgery. I believe he can also combine his perseverance and perseverance on the sports field with his own profession to face all challenges in the future and become an excellent surgeon!
