A middle-aged woman went to the house where singer-actor Rain (real name Ji-hoon Ji-hoon) and actress Kim Tae-hee lived and was caught by the police while ringing the doorbell.
According to the police, a woman in her 40s is charged with ringing the doorbell at the house of the Rain couple in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul around 7 pm on the 27th of last month (violation of the Stalking Punishment Act). On that day, the police arrived following receiving a report from the couple and arrested Mr. A as a current criminal.
As a result of the police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A visited the couple’s house several times last year and rang the doorbell. However, before the Stalking Punishment Act came into force, it was classified as a misdemeanor and was only punished three times, including a fine of not more than 100,000 won. The Stalking Punishment Act, which went into effect in October of last year, is punishable by up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won for continuous and repeated stalking.
In October 2020, Rain’s agency released a closed circuit (CC) TV video of a woman ringing the doorbell of the Rain couple’s house and screaming, saying, “If actions that infringe on the artist’s privacy and threaten his/her personal life are repeated, We will take all possible legal action.”
A police official said, “A fine has already been imposed on Mr. A’s previous acts,” said a police officer. “We plan to investigate this case by applying the Stalking Punishment Act.”
