Forest authorities and firefighters are working hard to prevent the fire from spreading to private houses above all else. Fire trucks line up the village, spraying water and building defenses.
Currently, 27 residents of 3 villages in Hapgari and Sinchon-ri, Ssangnim-myeon, Goryeong-gun, are evacuated from the nearby village hall and are staying up all night with their eyes open.
In addition, 67 people, including 21 patients and 46 residents, who entered Daechang Nursing Home and Nursing Home 1.5km away from the fire site, were transferred to Gaya Hostel and Daegaya Living Village, respectively. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
Today, as the fire spread became serious, the forest authorities issued a national crisis warning of ‘severe’ at 5:30 pm and mobilized all available resources.
The fire department also issued a ‘National Firefighting Mobilization Order No. 1’ so that all resources in the five cities and provinces, including Daegu, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Ulsan, and Busan, as well as the Central Fire Service can be mobilized.
However, it is difficult to extinguish the fire due to strong winds and steep hills, and 300 hectares of forest have been burned so far.
When the sun rises at 7:05 am tomorrow, the fire department will mobilize 45 helicopters, 16 more than today, and increase the manpower to 850.
