[전국][서울] Dengue fever patients in Seoul 0 last year → 34 this year… Impact of resuming overseas travel

The Seoul Institute of Health and Environment announced that a total of 34 dengue fever patients were confirmed at hospitals in Seoul until last month this year.

Last year, no dengue fever patients were confirmed, but it is analyzed that the number of dengue fever patients also increased as the number of overseas travelers increased due to the relaxation of the COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.

Countries with suspected dengue infection include Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and India.

Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an aedes mosquito infected with the dengue virus. It is an acute febrile disease with symptoms such as headache, musculoskeletal pain, and rash following an incubation period of up to 14 days.
