[자막뉴스] 750,000 people expected to pay tribute to Queen’s funeral VIP by bus

The British Government Coordination Office has launched an emergency plan for the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

This is because there was a possibility that as many as 750,000 mourners might visit during the public worship period.

Already, the front of Buckingham Palace, where the queen’s coffin is placed, is crowded with citizens who gather day and night.

If 750,000 mourners visit, the waiting line is expected to be up to 8 km and the waiting time will reach 20 hours.

“The Queen has served us for 70 years. Waiting ten days is nothing compared to what the Queen gave us.”

Mourners are only allowed to carry small bags, have to go through security, and are not allowed to use cameras or cell phones.

The British Guardian predicted that the number of people taking to the streets to watch the funeral might be equivalent to the one million people at the funeral of the late Princess Diana in 1997.

The British government has said it will deploy 10,000 police officers in downtown London in case of a possible terrorist attack and may halt the mourning procession if it becomes too crowded.

Strict condolence guidelines apply not only to ordinary citizens, but also to VIPs such as foreign leaders.

The British Foreign Ministry has urged leaders attending the funeral to use commercial air, not private planes, and to travel to the funeral by bus rather than private vehicles.

It is expected that there will be more than 2,000 major bodyguards, including heads of state including President Yoon Seok-yeol and US President Joe Biden, who have expressed their intention to attend the funeral.
