[영상] Indiscriminate bombing and sweeping operations… “Occupy 80% of Donbas’s key point”

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Russian troops are maximizing their firepower to occupy Severodonetsk, a strategic point in Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk Oblast) in eastern Ukraine.

Although the Ukrainian army is doing its best to defend, the tide is gradually leaning towards Russia.

According to CNN, Luhansk Governor Serhi Haidai said on the 1st (local time) that Russian troops had controlled 80% of Severodonetsk.

Severodonetsk, with a population of 100,000, is a strategic point for the Ukrainian military to pass through.

After besieging Severodonetsk and paralyzing the city’s functions with indiscriminate bombing, Russian forces are fighting in a street fight to clear up the remaining troops. This strategy was also used when taking control of the southern city of Mariupol.

“The Russian military continues to employ tactics that destroy the economic viability of the places it is trying to occupy,” said the American think tank Institute for Warfare (ISW). It is in the same vein as the destruction of the Azoustal Works in Mariupol.”

Ukrainian military casualties are also on the rise. In particular, in Severodonetsk, shelling was so severe that it was difficult to determine the actual casualties, officials said.
