The grand prize at the ‘2022 KBS Drama Awards’ was won by actors Joo Sang-wook and Lee Seung-gi.
On December 31 last year at 9:30 pm, the ‘2022 KBS Drama Awards’ ceremony was held at KBS New Building in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. On this day, Joo Sang-wook and Lee Seung-gi jointly won the grand prize and shone the place.
First, Joo Sang-wook, who played an active role in ‘Taejo Lee Bang-won’, said, “The waiting time from the beginning until now was very difficult. It seems like 25 years ago. He made his debut by appearing in a small role in a KBS youth drama. This is how I even received an award from KBS. Thank you so much,” he said.
He continued, “KBS historical dramas were revived following 5 years, and while acting as a child, I thought, ‘If I keep acting, will I ever get a chance to play a role like that? I think there was a time when I vaguely thought, ‘I wish I might do it’. In fact, I got to play a wonderful role in a historical drama like this. However, the weight and pressure of this historical drama was so difficult that I might not handle it alone. It was so hard to film every day. At that time, there were so many seniors and juniors who always supported and helped me, like real brothers and real family. It’s hard to name each and every one because there are so many of them, but I think I was able to finish well until the end because of them.”
In addition, he said, “Thank you to the viewers who loved historical dramas for watching until the end.” “I am always grateful and grateful to my reliable company family. Dear mother, thank you so much for being healthy and I love you so much. I love Cha Ye-ryun, the one and only wife in the world who is on my side.”
Lee Seung-gi, who starred in ‘Love as the Law’, said on the day, “I am really nervous. This year has been the hardest in my life. I think this award contains the efforts of those who appeared in the same work.” “The meaning of the Daesang There seems to be a lot of things, but it seems that I received it thanks to the efforts of the staff rather than because of my outstanding acting skills. The director told me that KBS has made a profitable drama for the first time in a few years.”
He continued, “To be honest, I think I’ve thought regarding hundreds of times whether I should come to the acting awards show or whether I should ask for your understanding and not attend.” I acted on my whim a lot because it didn’t seem like it was moral. There is one reason why I decided to come here. Since dramas are created by teams, I came with the mindset that the sweat and effort of dramas should not be neglected due to personal problems. Thank you for giving me a big award.”
He added, “I had to briefly express my impressions no matter what award I received, but the first thing I felt following coming here was seeing my fellow seniors and juniors sitting in the audience at the awards ceremony, and I was very moved. Currently, I think that we are rising to the global ranks in Korean content, movies, pop music, and entertainment, but I know that my fellow seniors and juniors here are working hard. Next year, the year following, 10, 20 years from now, in order to find the natural right for the juniors who will be sitting here, I promise once more today that I must not pass on this kind of work where I have to put down many things and fight to get something. A lot of people cheered me on, which gave me a lot of strength. I am grateful to the many people who have been working hard on my acting life and who have supported and loved our drama. Since this is an award I receive on behalf of the ‘Love as per the law’ team, I will have a cool dinner. I will shoot without limit.”
The top male award was awarded to Kang Ha-neul from ‘Curtain Call’ and Do Kyung-soo from ‘Jin Gum Match’. Do Kyung-soo said, “Thank you to everyone who worked hard for the drama. I also want to say hello to the staff who made me. I will continue to work hard to repay you.”
Kang Ha-neul said, “I received an award that did not suit me. I am really grateful, but I received it even though I did nothing better than those who were nominated together. I can tell by the award given to the character. Before being a good actor, I will become a good person.”
The top female award went to Ha Ji-won from ‘Curtain Call’ and Park Jin-hee from ‘Taejong Lee Bang-won’. Ha Ji-won said, “I am happy to be able to share this moment with the seniors and juniors I respect so much, and the people who enjoyed watching. ‘Curtain Call’ was like a gift.”
Park Jin-hee said, “Even at this moment, I hope that the actors on set will tell themselves that they are doing well today and that they have worked hard. She was able to receive this award thanks to her family who always supported her,” she said.
