The place you see now is the front yard of the Blue House.
You can see the huge silver sculpture.
It is a ‘mirror ball’ that was installed with close to 100 million won recently to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Blue House.
It turned out that not so long ago, it had been installed as a symbol of the local government in a pond in Suseong-gu, Daegu.
Reporter Hyo-Jeong Nam reported on what happened.

A huge ‘mirror ball’ appeared in the front yard of the Blue House.
It is 5 meters in diameter, and it is a large silver ball sculpture made by attaching pieces of mirrors.
The Cultural Heritage Foundation, affiliated with the Cultural Heritage Administration, installed this ‘mirror ball’ with a budget of 93 million won in August to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Blue House.
However, this giant mirror ball was originally located in ‘Suseong Lake’, a pond in Daegu City.
It was a ‘mirror ball’ made by Daegu City to symbolize ‘Mercury’ in Suseong-gu, in the shape of ‘Mercury’, a planet of the solar system.

“There’s a magic spell that can light up. It’s ‘Happy Mercury’.”
(Happy, Mercury.”
Daegu Suseong-gu used this mirror ball for a laser show at a local light festival last December.
The Blue House was also originally scheduled to shoot a laser at this mirror ball and hold a light show and other celebratory performances.
However, due to concerns regarding local complaints, the celebration was not held and only used for display purposes.
The huge mirror ball that appeared out of nowhere at the Blue House was controversial in the Internet community, etc.

“I wonder what the Korean people would think when they saw the mirror ball that suddenly appeared in the Blue House. It is a representative example of the sudden opening of the Blue House.”
It is pointed out that the symbol used for local government events is installed in the Blue House, the center of Korean history, and does not match the meaning and atmosphere.
The Cultural Heritage Foundation, which prepared the event, said that the satisfaction of the citizens was high, and that it was not a waste of budget by using it appropriately.

“Mirror ball items are now being used at various festivals across the country, and now it is a space where you can hang out with the lawn and flower gardens and relax…”
The mirror ball, installed at close to 100 million won, was on display for 24 days, but was removed due to safety concerns when Typhoon Hinnamno approached last month.
