China has announced that it will prioritize the resumption of production for major companies such as automobiles and semiconductors even in city-locked areas such as Shanghai.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China announced on the 15th that it had made this decision in order to stabilize the supply chain through a notice on its website.
Specifically, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology explained that it would guarantee the resumption of operations first for 666 companies in key fields such as automobiles, semiconductors, and bio/pharmaceuticals.
Accordingly, the city of Shanghai announced on the 16th the quarantine guidelines related to the resumption of production by companies, foreshadowing that companies that meet the standards will be allowed to resume operation.
In this regard, Archyde.com reported that Tesla’s Shanghai plant had begun preparations for reopening, and China’s state-run CCTV reported that the Shanghai automobile plant in China has also begun testing to resume operation.
China’s move is interpreted as a measure to resolve economic difficulties due to prolonged lockdowns in large cities such as Shanghai and Changchun.
