Bok-hyeon Lee, former chief of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office, has been appointed as the new head of the Financial Supervisory Service.
Koh Seung-beom, chairman of the Financial Services Commission, proposed the appointment of former chief prosecutor as the successor of former Financial Supervisor Jeong Eun-bo following a resolution by the Financial Services Commission today (7th).
It is the first time since the establishment of the Financial Supervisory Service as a former prosecutor.
In addition, Kang Seok-hoon, a professor of economics at Sungshin Women’s University, was appointed as the new president of Korea Development Bank.
The Financial Services Commission announced that Koh Seung-beom, chairman of the Financial Services Commission, recommended that Professor Kang be appointed as the new chairman of KDB.
After serving as a member of the Saenuri Party, Professor Kang served as chief economic secretary at the Blue House during the Park Geun-hye administration, and served as a policy adviser who was recently elected to the Presidential Takeover Committee.
The Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Service and the Chairman of the KDB are each recommended by the Chairman of the Financial Services Commission and appointed by the President.
