(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Han Hye-won = President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife Kim Kun-hee went out to department stores and markets on the 14th, the first weekend following taking office, the presidential office said.
According to the presidential office, President Yun had breakfast and lunch at his home this morning with Mrs. Kim, and then stopped by a department store near his home to buy a pair of black shoes.
Afterwards, President Yoon and his wife visited Gwangjang Market in Jongno-gu and bought Bindae Tteok, Tteokbokki, Sundae, and dumplings.
The schedule for the day was not announced in advance, but the spokesperson’s office revealed the places to be visited late as the appearance of the president and his wife visiting department stores and markets became known through social media.
The presidential office explained, “President Yoon was going to have a late lunch at Gwangjang Market, but there were too many people at his regular restaurant, so he went out to buy food.”
The presidential office added that President Yoon liked to go for a walk, so he walked around Seoul a lot before, and often ate gimbap and kalguksu at a restaurant in Gwangjang Market.
President Yoon and his wife left Gwangjang Market and took a walk in Namsan Hanok Village, and when they returned home, they had dinner with food they bought at Gwangjang Market.
It is known that he took pictures with several citizens and children in the Hanok Village.
The presidential office said, “This schedule was an unscheduled, unofficial schedule, with only a minimum number of security personnel.”
