In Luxembourg: A bus caught fire on the A1 motorway, traffic disrupted
LUXEMBOURG – An engine fire forced a bus to stop on the A1 at Hesperange on Thursday morning. The right lane was closed to traffic.
The engine of a bus caught fire, early Thursday morning on the A1 motorway, indicate a reader of The essential and the Automobile club of Luxembourg. According to the ACL, the right lane is closed to traffic, causing traffic disruptions.
On the images sent by our reader, we see the bus stopped on the side of the road, just following crossing the Victor-Bodson bridge, which passes over Hesperange. Firefighters were on the scene. Passengers had to get off the bus and wait behind the guardrail.
The incident, which occurred on a bus on line 504 between Hayange and Luxembourg, did not cause any injuries, says Jean-François, our reader who was on board. “The firefighters have left, there are still the police on site and around thirty travelers behind the security barriers, he explains. We are waiting for another bus”. But “there is a big traffic jam behind us and the replacement bus is having trouble getting to the scene,” he adds, as passengers have been waiting for around 7:10 a.m. at the scene. Eventually everyone was picked up around 7:45am to finish the ride.
